Alan Mast, MD, PhD

Mast.jpg: Alan Mast, MD, PhD is an assistant professor at the University of Tennessee and Medical Director of Transfusion Medicine, Coagulation, and Hematology Laboratories at the VA Medical Center in Memphis, Tennessee. He received his MD and PhD degrees at Duke University and completed residency training in laboratory medicine at Washington University in St. Louis, Missouri.

Dr, Mast directs an active research laboratory, investigating structure/function relationships of plasma proteinase inhibitors. His basic science work is currently focused on the regulation of intravascular thrombus formation by cell surface associated tissue factor pathway inhibitor. He also maintains an interest in laboratory diagnosis of iron deficiency anemia.
